3/25/2023 0 Comments Warbirds forums![]() Even so, I'd prefer to get a new 1.2 m P47Ī few years ago I was visiting my family for the holidays and selling some airplanes at my storage unit in Las Vegas (there are still a few hundred NIB and flyable models in there ). A Zero is also cool because, full scale, it was designed for spins and snap rolls. I had one of the Horizon balsa ARF ones that flew great until an aileron servo started cycling mid flight. A Zero has good width and reasonable length gear. Experienced modelers likely look at the landing gear, narrow odd angle on the BF109 (same for ally Spitfire) and spindly on the 190 (I know it can be strong but that long moment arm through the mechanism is very powerful). I bet Horizon wishes they could issue Top Gun versions of the P51 and the FA18 but I suspect that would cost way too much money. For newer modelers, it's most likely familiarity that drives the choice. It's their children or, more likely, their grandchildren who would be offended but I kind of doubt that's the issue. Statistically speaking, there are no actual vets who flew against Germany or Japan to offend. Guess we'll see.but I and others have seen MANY companies come on "strong" with "unique" subject matters only to see them go away after a few years in my more than 3 decades in the industry nowīTW, where's that white-painted J65 they seemingly promised we would have almost a year ago? I'm waiting to buy one until they offer it that way: Just because you and some others on the forums/social media are excited and posting about them doesn't mean they're selling all that many (or enough to sustain a business beyond the first 3-5 years). Their EDF releases so far have been mostly less modeled stuff (T-7A, B1, Alpha jet,) so I'd hope that same approach/attitude would roll over into prop warbirds if they ever get into that market.įun fact.I haven't seen a single one of those T-7A or Alpha Jet models "out in the wild" at the multiple very active clubs and fields I've visited in the last year (while there were always LOTS of E-flite models and at least a few FW/FL models at the same clubs/fields).
